My first newborn shoot ever! I really enjoyed this session, and I realize that newborn shoots are very up and down, it may work one day but not the next, so I am very grateful for his cooperation and momma's too! Hi all! yes I am back! (for a little while at least:) The last few months have been pretty hectic and I have had to put photography on the back burner, but I did seek little opportunities to do minishoots along the way to keep my photoshoot urges at bay :)

I followed this little gal around for a day up in the mountains of California, her family and my husband and I got to sneak away for a weekend and enjoy the fresh air! She is a very sweet and busy little one and her eyes are an incredible blue! (obviously;) Anyways, here are a few I took that day!

Well the time has come. A time of change. (yet again.)
My husband and I our dedicating our next two years to attending a bible school in California {www.ftta.org if your curious:)}. We are both really excited!! (and a little nervous too)It will be wonderful! and it will be hard... But it is in God's plan for us - and He will be our stength to make it through the tough times, and be our joy in the good times.
With that said, photography is on hold:( I will be able to do some shoots here and there, but I will be MIA till January. *sniff sniff* Please don't forget me! (or my work;)!

Meet the adorable Bethal and her gorgeous baby bump! The NW treated us with another sunny day and gorgeous evening light so we drove out into the county and found ourselves a lovely wheat field!

Bethal is one of those mothers-to-be that just warms my heart and puts a smile to my face. She glows with pride and love for her baby and is one of the most if not the most happiest pregnant woman I have ever met. Bethal and her husband are both super excited for her arrival - they are 3/4 of the way there! Her baby is very blessed to be in such a loving home and I can't wait to meet her! I wish you all the best my dear! You will be in my thoughts and prayers as your journey continues!

Funky and Vintage! My senior session! (FYI for all you Canadian viewers, American's have senior sessions (high-school senior obviously, cuz they sure ain't old;) instead of "cap and gown" photos. Love that idea!

I had been planning for this session from the moment I moved here.. so sayish 2 months and counting. I knew I was running out of time so on short notice I called her up and the day couldn't have turned out better!! We initially thought of doing two separate sessions, one vintagy in the fields and one more back-ally/funky colors themed. But we managed to do them both on the same day! Hannah, with a broken foot, smiled right through any pain she had and boy, was she stunning! And yes, I do realize this sneak peak is sorta lengthy but I had a hard time shortening it! So enjoy the photos and I hope you like em'!!

PART ONE: Vintagy - we drove out into the county and found a random field with a good view . And with the help of gorgeous evening light, we frolicked and laughed our way through the tall grass and this is what it produced! :

PART TWO: Funky - We raced back into downtown, were Hannah knew of an alley with several different colored walls! Many more laughs spilled here!

A big thank-you goes out to this beautiful friend of mine who gladly volunteered to be my model, after what seemed to be a very long time between sessions! It was one of those grey dreary days, where at any second a rain shower could dump on you. Even as we headed out, we had to stop for coffee to "wait out the rain". But to my surprise the rain cleared, and we had a beautiful time! She has such amazing blue eyes and I am so thankful that I have found a friend in her:) You have made me feel so welcome in this new place and thanks for letting me crash at your house so often and eating your food!!!

{Tea Party Picnic}

Last Friday I spend a beautiful sunny day outside under the gently swaying trees with a bunch of wonderful people:) My sister was visiting(YAY!) and 2 others drove down to make this tea party a reality! Anna, my dear friend had the idea to do this in the first place. She and I both have this habit of collecting DIY projects from other blogs, and website that we want to try, so this was one way that we could use some of the ideas and attempt to make a cutsie little picnic tea party for us and our friends. We didn't have that much time to plan it - it kinda just happened but we were able to make a few things, get a few props and used stuff we already had. So along with the help of the others, we baked, decorated cupcakes, bought a beautiful quit, and made 3 trips back and forth from the car carrying it all over to the place we choose. There we ate sandwiches, sipped tea, munched on chips and salsa, devoured cupcakes and brownies and drank milk! It was so good! Plus it was just fun to hang out:)

I did the scrap-booking look with the photos again, so they pretty much speak for themselves!

{My Family}

Meet the people who made me, shaped me, and grew up with me! To say that I love my family would be an understatement. Moving away from them may just have been the hardest thing I have had to do in my life (yet). It's hard not to tear up while working with this photo session - I was putting it off for multiple reasons, but it was just time.

They are my vulnerability... I would do anything to protect each one of them. Even the thought of being away from them for an uncertain amount of time breaks my heart. Yes, it was my choice to leave with my husband and I don't regret it - it just wasn't easy.

This is my tribute to them and why I love them:

Dad - I am daddy's little girl (enough said? ;) I don't think I can grow out of that. He is strong and protective and kept me in line all those years. He never failed to tell me how much he loved me even when I was getting punished. He was my #1 fan, told me how it is straight up, coached me for many years and pushed me to do my best in everything I did. If I made my dad proud, I won.

Mom - God blessed me with a mom that desires to impart only the greatest characteristics and life into her children. With a tender love and a caring heart she took care of me and all of us in a way only a mother could. She did her best trying to find the inner "wife" in me and I will cherish all the things she as taught me over the years. Growing up, if someone told me I was like my mom I would be... uh, "really?" But now, the more I hear that the prouder I am. She is so so so strong and can do anything, an incredible woman. And her massages are the BEST. no one beats them yet:)

Sis - My shadow, the little baby who told on me and the best keeper of secrets. As the older sister I always had to upper hand, or so I thought - that little innocent face could get out of anything, I underestimated her. Now she is growing up and becoming such an incredible person. She strives to reach her goals even if they may be out of reach - she wont stop trying. She will be successful. She makes me proud to be her sister and I am so ridiculously thankful that I got a sister. We are close, we are different, we cry and we laugh - she is my sister and I love her.
Brother - We butt heads, we argue, we tease. That's what brother are for right? He is the most caring teenage boy I have ever known - and I'm not biased. He has a way of making everyone feel special because he genuinely cares. He has an array of talents with languages and music and I can't wait to see what he accomplishes next. Oh and he will always tell you how it is... no sugar coating! Love him;)

Baby Brother - My partner in crime, my best friend, my companion, my buddy ol' pal. So many crazy endeavors and adventures in my life involve this little guy in one way or another. He makes me laugh and we always have a good time! and never fails to give me the hug I need that day:) We wrestle - I pin him, I win... he is feisty and is very very slow to give in...now we wrestle, we both get tired and its "even" ;) He had his head on straight and knows right from wrong.. It breaks my heart knowing that I won't be there for all his growing up years....

My man - I found someone, well, actually God found him for me, and I will forever be grateful. He fell right into the family, my parents love him like their own, my sister loves him now that he is not "new news" (hehe) and my brothers have another person to hang with, wrestle with and the older brother me and my sister couldn't be. This paragraph could be miles long but I'll stop with the simple fact that I love him. A LOT.
Anyways, now that I have written a novel, there are a few pictures! haha, the photo shoot itself didn't turn out exactly like I had thought out but never-the-less, this is was we got and what we will go with! Enjoy!

Meet my uncle and aunt and family! We planned our road trip so that we had one day in between driving days to visit my relatives. My aunt had been wanting family photos for a while, so we planned for it. We spent a lovely day in the country - treking through the muddy fields, holding kittly-cats and and bursting out in many laughing spells:) They are so sweet and I since I don't get to see them often, I look forward to every chance I get. I really appreciate and love spending time with them:) The kiddos were cheerful and smiled whenever asked, it made my job very easy! Enjoy your sneak peak Em! Your CD is in the mail!

Well, for the first time in my life I am leaving the place where I was born and raised - actually moving - all my stuff is packed. I don't exactly know when or if I'll be back. Its emotional - but I have yet to really show it. *trying to aviod it altogether*

My photography will take a new turn... mountains, oceans, dense forests... THAT I am excited for.

But I will miss this place.

Meet my darling little cousin! Her mom wanted me to take her annual pictures and there is no way I can refuse! She was a little nervous with saying with me while mom ran some errands, but after doing her hair and picking her outfit she jumped into the car with me and I drove to a place that I had been dreaming about for a long while! and I wasn't disapointed one bit! She loved all my ideas and I was trilled that she had ideas of her own as well! She was very excited when she got to use the blanket (she was alittle cold) and it shows in her radient smile:) We had a blast and I'm pretty sure she had a good time too! You are beautiful my dear!

{Bohn Family}

Meet the lovely Bohn family! It was a crummy windy snowing/raining day but it was so much fun! During my childhood the school bus always dropped me and my sister off at Shelby's stop - there we hoped and prayed my dad wasn't waiting there for us so we could go to her house and play polly-pockets! (and its SUCH a bummer that they are not made anymore with the teenie einy people). Shelby surprized her mother with an early monther's day gift (family photos) and i was so surprized to learn that they hadn't taken family photos since Shelby was in grade 1!! ahh! So it was about time!! =D

I had a lazy day at home on Friday, and I felt like baking! I found this recipe from another blog (Joythebaker) and it looked so cool and delicious that I had to try it out! It just to happened that my friend Anna was home as well and had a recipe of her own in mind. Crazy coincidence: we had the same recipe in mind!! WE had a great day afternoon of baking this AMAZING and DELICIOUS bread!!

{Jordan & Gwen}

I was thrilled when I found out that these two love birds finally got engaged! and I got excited all over again when she asked me to do her engagement photos!! This shoot took a bit of planning, but I enjoyed it:) Firstly I had to go and scout out a location, then I had to see if it would even work to do photos.. its so wet, slushy, muddy, and just icky in some parts. I had to bring a tarp to put under the blanket, umbella to diffuse the harsh noon sunlight (which didnt work at all) and I had to carry around a stool.. (darn shortness!) haha. But was able to get my hands on some sweet props and set to work! (correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it turned out well:)

I have known Gwen for years! we played soccer together for some 6/7 straight years - we were both part of my favorite team, the team were we bascially grew up on:) I also got to play with Jordan on a co-ed team as well. Though Gwen played competitive soccer, she also enjoyed basketball which is jordan's favorite sport (correct me if I'm wrong!!) So they met in thier high school gym when Gwen was in grade 11. Jordan just to happened to be reffing one of Gwen's basketball games and he grabbed her attention.. thinking "he must be way older than me"... little did she know that the following year of school he was in her class! clearly they hit it off! Skip forward 6ish years and Gwen is student teaching at the same school she went to in her high school days. Jordan proposed to her right there in the same gym were they met for the first time! SO CUTE! =D, clearly I'm a sucker for a good romantic tale:)

Anyways I better stop before this turns into a novel! It was awesome seeing you both again and I wish you all the best as the planning gets underway:) So without further adu, enjoy your rather long sneak peak!

{Girl's Night}

So this is not a professional post, it's more personal... photography isn't just for organized photo shoots, it's for everyday life - documenting things that matter most. So here is my first "personal" post;)

My dear cousin is in town again and it's basically a tradition to have a ladies night out and just enjoy each others' company:) I wanted to avoid the bad lit restaurant, so on out way into the city we stopped by the tracks and took a few in the beautiful golden spring light:) We were out on the track when we heard and felt the tracks start to rumble, and I hear all the the girls screa, and run for the car! haha! anyways, that is how we managed to get the train in the background ;P

Hello all! As you can see I made a big switch with my name and set up and all. I had been wanting to do it for quite some time now for security reasons, so while I was brainstorming a night ago with my husband, it just came to me! And I instantly LOVED it! So I thought I would give you all the low-down on what the name means to me (and all the reasons I picked it:)

a) my favorite color is blue

b) I love wild flowers

c) Belle means beauty in french

d)Belle just to happens to be my favorite disney princess, not that that would make a difference in me choosing the name or not...haha

e) "growing in the light" is inspired by blue bells themselves... after doing research I was pleased to read that they grow on sides of hills were the sun shines all day..

f) "growing in the light" also refers to your Christian life, you only grow under the light:)

So as you can see I am very excited about this and there will still be a few changes to come! So stay tuned!

My dear auntie Janie! I had the previlage of doing her maternity shoot when I went to visit her during spring break! It is very exciting because she is expecting a baby boy! Her first boy, since she already has two daughters:) I spent almost an hour straightening her hair, we got already to go only to have out husbands say that they were going out and we had to stay back and be at home while the girlies had thier naps. So I took a few indoor photos.. (which i don't prefer) and waited for our men to return. Once they did we grabbed our jackets and headed out in the lightly falling snow to starbucks! which just to happened to be located by a book store which made for an excellent back drop:) Here are a few of my favorites from the day!

As I promised, here are my dear friends Jord and Kris! I had the pleasure of shooting thier engagement photos this past sunday:) I can't believe the day we got for photos! it was sunny and snow was melting all around us and then two hours later we finished with running to our cars with strongs winds and snow hitting our faces! I met them both through my faculty and currently play volleyball with them. Jordan is very comical, highly entertaining and a great all around guy:) Kris is so sweet and caring but could break your face with a volleyball spike! Both are fierce competitors and I enjoy playing with them and not against them:) So without further adieu, here are the photos!

My sister! My only sister:) We snuck out saturday afternoon in decently non-freezing weather, we trudged through the backyard with winter boots, mittens and touques, I even had to piggy-back her through some of the deeper parts... haha :) She brought along a blanket and jacket that she jumped into between photos. Our session was cut short due to the cold making my battery die faster that I had planned.... and since we were a long ways away from the house, going back to get my other battery and then walking all the way back into the woods seemed highly unlikely (and I had more ideas! grrr.) Anyways, I know ALOT about Fern, I will just quickly mention a few of the good things;) hehe. She is an amazing musician, sweet and very sensible:) She is funny and caring... and she has a signiture "silly" face:) Basically all my childhood memories involve her... and to get a little insight about that, she was the cute and innocent one.. but behind the scenes she was fiesty! haha! She will grow up to be a very successful career woman!

Meet my sister-in-law and her family! My husband and I just got back from visiting them in the PNW. We ran out on a chilly cloudy day dodging puddles and very damp mossy/muddy grass hoping to avoid the rain. We managed to get out and back in just as it started to drizzle:) Since baby Ezra only wanted pictures taken for a little while (too cold and tierd) and the crazy two year old Kiwi's attention span only lasts so and so long, my sister, her husband and I snuck back out once baby was put down for a nap:) They are fun, energetic and there is never a dull moment in thier household! We enjoyed our visit very very much and I hope you like the photos!

Meet Lorna and baby Kaylie! I shot these back in September and have only got to them now:) It was a beautiful evening with great light and lots of smiles. The whole shoot was Lorna's idea, I was just lucky enough to be the one to take the photos:)
Lorna is a sweet, full of energy fun loving aunt of mine! Well she is probely more like a sister really, I love spending time with her and I hope she knows how special she is to me:) Her daughter Kaylie is a nut! haha! She is silly and had a way of making eveyone laugh. She, like her mother, has lots of energy too and can chatter like a chipmunk ;) I love them both dearly and I hope they enjoy this post dedicated to them!

{Baby Brother turns 13! }

On October 31st, insetead of celebrating halloween, I celebrate my little brother's birthday! He is funny, goofy, and pretty darn cute:) He has a sweet spirit and loves to play hockey or any sport for that matter! He is very energetic and active and loves a good wrestling match! Which we have had prenty of:) Growing up he was my adventurous companion and followed me around like a little puppy! haha (I am 9 years older) Many of my childhood memories envolve him in one way or another... treks out in the forest, quading, catching wild things (or at least trying too) and just being dreamers together.

After a long spell of cold weather and dreary days, we fell upon a gorgeous warmer eveing of sunshine! There were even some mosquitoes enjoying the weather... haha. We strolled along the river and down colorful paths having a great time!

Let me introduce you to a beautiful young gal! Miss Charnae:) I have watched her grow up for my family spends each summer camping and boating with her family. I assisted shooting another wedding with my dear friend and fellow photographer Delila. She knew the bride from high school and I was pleased to find out that her brother was a classmate of mine back in grade 5!

I shot most of the wedding with Delila's fish eye adapter lens (which I have now ordered as well:) this is why most of my photos are fishy looking:) It was a long, (approx. 16 hrs of shooting) hot day spent with amazing/funny/silly spanish and italian families:) We had a blast and I know the couple and bridal party and family did too!

So here is my first blog ever! And my first real "professional" (ish) shoot!

I am proud to introduce you to my first clients, Wanda and Randal. Wanda is my beautiful cousin and I was so honoured to shoot her wedding! I did their engagement photos earlier in the year, so when it came time to do the wedding they were completely comfortable in front of the camera. They went with all my crazy ideas and tried everything I threw at them... running through the rain, using blankets and umbrellas for safety and climbing into old dirty barns when the rain got too strong.. and Wanda was relaxed and calm the whole time, I was so impressed! The bridal party was a hoot and even though the weather was awful, I enjoyed myself and look forward to doing more work in this field!

So here are a couple photos of their special day!

I don't know if you can notice, but it is raining here and they braved it for a few seconds while my assistant was just out side the frame with an umbrella ready to run in as soon as the camera clicked!

The guys were awesome! They basically stood in the rain for the whole shoot and never complained!

This is definitely one of my favourites!
